Dos Casas Metálicas (Rafaela, Pcia. de Santa Fe, Argentina) por Mauricio Morra Arquitectos. Las dos casas en PH se ubican en un lote en esquina de 12×30 metros, en un barrio de la periferia Este de la ciudad de Rafaela, provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina. Se aprovecha la situación de esquina para generar los ingresos en su lado Norte más largo, y jerarquizar ambas viviendas. La propuesta evita espacios comunes, que significaban mayores costos de construcción y mantenimiento. Se dividió el terreno exactamente a la mitad quedando toda la superficie construida y libre privada -con patios propios-, exceptuando el retiro obligatorio Norte que ha quedado como un jardín semi-público.

Ambas casas son dúplex iguales de 2 dormitorios (un dormitorio y baño accesible en PB y otro en PA). Están apoyadas en medianeras Sur y Oeste con servicios, y aprovechando las mejores orientaciones Este y Norte para iluminación, asoleamiento y ventilación.

Su estructura es metálica y modulada, de doble perfiles UPN, más tubos cuadrados y rectangulares. Las aberturas y las envolventes exteriores son de aluminio (tubos rectangulares verticales colocados de cara o canto).

Estos componentes principales -estructura, envolventes y aberturas- se funden en una expresión unificada e integrada, cumpliendo múltiples roles: control climático, lumínico, visuales, intimidad, seguridad, con muy bajo mantenimiento. Respecto al interior la tabiquería se resuelve con tecnologías en seco.

Poseen galerías en dobles alturas en orientación Este, operando como transición entre el interior (habitaciones de permanencia donde se destaca el estar-comedor en doble altura) y el exterior (patios de expansión). Existe una estrecha relación, sinergia y fluidez espacial entre estas tres categorías -interior-transición-exterior-.

Un patio de luz en planta alta acentúa esta contingencia e integración de espacios libres y cubiertos, con situaciones lumínicas y presencia de elementos naturales -cielo, luz, vegetación- que favorecen una atmósfera de sosiego.

Debido a su configuración topológica la propuesta incluye versatilidad de usos y flexibilidad para agregar futuras ampliaciones, sin corromper sus conceptos originales. En algunos de los módulos de dobles alturas -estar-comedor o galería- se pueden agregar, de manera muy sencilla, entrepisos con tecnologías en seco, dentro de la misma construcción.

The Two Metallic Houses are located on a corner lot of 12 x 30 meters, in a neighborhood on the eastern outskirts of the city of Rafaela, province of Santa Fe, Argentina. The corner situation is used to generate income on its longest north side, and prioritize both houses.

The proposal avoids common spaces, which meant higher construction and maintenance costs. The land was divided exactly in half, leaving the entire built and free private surface -with its own patios-, except for the obligatory North retreat that has remained as a semi-public garden.

Both houses are identical 2-bedroom duplexes (one accessible bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and one on the ground floor). They are supported by south and west dividing walls with services, and taking advantage of the best east and north orientations for lighting, sunlight and ventilation.

Its structure is metallic and modulated, with double UPN profiles, plus square and rectangular tubes. The openings and outer shells are made of aluminum (vertical rectangular tubes placed face or edge). These main components -structure, envelopes and openings- merge into a unified and integrated expression, fulfilling multiple roles: climate control, lighting, visuals, privacy, security, with very low maintenance. Regarding the interior, the partitioning is solved with dry technologies.

They have double-height galleries facing East, operating as a transition between the interior (stay rooms where the double-height living-dining room stands out) and the exterior (expansion patios). There is a close relationship, synergy and spatial fluidity between these three categories -interior-transition-exterior-. A light patio on the upper floor accentuates this contingency and integration of free and covered spaces, with light situations and the presence of natural elements -sky, light, vegetation- that favor an atmosphere of calm.

Due to its topological configuration, the proposal includes versatility of uses and flexibility to add future extensions, without corrupting its original concepts. In some of the double-height modules -living-dining room or gallery- mezzanines with dry technologies can be added very simply, within the same construction.
