Fulton Business Luxury Hotel (Guadalajara, Jalisco, México) por Blending Dots. ¿Cómo adaptar un edificio de oficinas abandonado de escasos 7 niveles para un uso hotelero en una zona de edificios contemporáneos de gran jerarquía sin restarle presencia y sin verse absorbido por la comparativa que lo circunda?
Este fue uno de los retos más importantes a abordar en este proyecto. ¿Y si en vez de seguir los estereotipos marcados alrededor del sitio (paredes de vidrio templados y acabados limpios y pulcros, fachadas de acero perforados y celosías de aluminio) optamos por diseñar “aquel pequeño hotelito pintoresco y acogedor del rincón”? Fue nuestra postura para poder atacar esta problemática.
En ese tenor buscamos respetar 100% la estructura y enfocarnos en diseñar inversamente a lo propuesto a nuestros alrededores, proponiendo una secuencia de vanos y marcos solidos aleatoriamente distribuidos en la fachada, pesadez en su propuesta de materiales, en contraste con la ligereza de nuestros vecinos, misma que se repite en la altura libre de recepción en el interior, calidez en lugar de frialdad.
El núcleo de circulaciones verticales funge como un elemento de suma importancia puesto que ésta fue rehabilitada tomando como partida la escalera original, vistiéndola elegantemente con una piel oscura y apoderándose de la altura libre que la alberga.
Cables con enredaderas que bajan desde la parte más alta hasta el área de lobby dotan de vida a los espacios de circulaciones y a su vez rematan en focos que iluminan el espacio.
El diseño de los baños contrasta con acabados limpios y finos, podría decirse que la piel que forra los baños se interpreta como el negativo inmediato al ladrillo obscuro del exterior y este responde al uso del espacio.
En resumen, podría decirse que el Hotel Fulton es diseñado con singularidad puesto que contrasta invariablemente de las propuestas circundantes y se muestra rebelde a continuar con dichos estereotipos, lo que lo hace único en su entorno inmediato y lo caracteriza por la forma antagónica de responder a su contexto.

How to adapt an abandoned office building with just 7 floors for a hotel in an area of high-ranking contemporary buildings without detracting from it presence and without being absorbed by the comparison that surrounds it?
This was one of the most important challenges to be addressed in this project. What if in You have to follow the stereotypes marked around the site (tempered glass walls and clean and neat finishes, perforated steel facades and aluminum lattices) we opted for for designing “that quaint and cozy little hotel in the corner”? That was our stance to be able to tackle this problem.
In this sense, we seek to respect 100% the structure and focus on designing inversely to what is proposed to our surroundings, proposing a sequence of openings and frames randomly distributed solids on the façade, heaviness in its proposal of materials, in contrast to the lightness of our neighbors, which is repeated in the free height of reception inside, warmth instead of coldness.
The core of vertical circulations serves as an extremely important element since that it was rehabilitated taking the original staircase as a starting point, dressing it elegantly with a dark skin and taking over the headroom that houses it.
Cables with vines that run down from the highest part to the area of lobby give life to the circulation spaces and at the same time end in spotlights that They light up the space.
The design of the bathrooms contrasts with clean and fine finishes, you could say the leather lining the bathrooms is interpreted as the immediate negative to the dark brick of the exterior and this responds to the use of space.
In short, it could be said that the Fulton Hotel is designed with uniqueness since It invariably contrasts with the surrounding proposals and is rebellious to continue with these stereotypes, which makes it unique in its immediate environment and characterizes it for the antagonistic way of responding to their context.
